The Clark Atlanta University Mathematical Society (CAUMS) is a campus-chartered organization (CCO) with the primary purpose of supporting the overall academic success of students in the mathematical sciences. The Society offers an intellectual and social space for students with interests in the mathematical sciences to promote scholarship, research and exploration by both majors and non-majors at the university. 

As a student-led organization, the CAUMS mission is to provide academic and professional support to students in the mathematical sciences. The society serves its purpose by providing scholastic forums, by offering mentoring and tutoring services, and by engaging the community in relevant academic and social activities.  

The mission of the CAUMS is achieved through the following objectives:

  1. To further the understanding and appreciation of, and interest in, mathematics and its related disciplines.
  2. To encourage students’ confidence and capability in the mathematical sciences. 
  3. To promote the enjoyment of mathematics through cooperative learning and recreational activities. 
  4. To promote mathematics as a tool for learning and encourage new ideas and ways of attaining professional goals.   
  5. To expose students to possible career interests and options in the field of mathematics and math-related areas. 
  6. To increase the number of students involved in math and science-related research. 
  7. To provide scholastic enrichment services, such as tutoring and mentoring, to students in the community.
