Atlanta, GA – The Atlanta Dream will kick off a series of free basketball camps on June 24 and 25 for girls ages 6-14 at Epps Gymnasium, home of the Clark Atlanta University Panthers. The camp, sponsored by Microsoft, is designed to apply science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts to basketball and sports.
CAU was selected as one of the sites to host the camp this summer in conjunction with a year-round community engagement partnership with the Atlanta Dream. The Clark Atlanta women’s basketball team and CAU STEM faculty will volunteer and engage with the camp participants.
“Basketball opens the door to many possibilities, and we are excited to support the Atlanta Dream as they use sports to inspire young girls to pursue future careers in STEM,” said Tony Bailey, head women’s basketball coach at Clark Atlanta University.
Microsoft’s STEM programming, Power Her Dreams, is an innovative curriculum that includes science and math modules, basketball skill-building, ballhandling drills, and a scrimmage. Campers will rotate stations and have the opportunity to engage in a Q&A with Atlanta Dream players.

About the Atlanta Dream
The Atlanta Dream, founded in 2008, is a professional basketball team of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). Led by Head Coach Tanisha Wright, they compete in the Eastern Conference and play at Gateway Center Arena in College Park, GA. The Dream has enjoyed 3 conference titles in team history.
