The Division of Research and Sponsored Programs
The Division of Research and Sponsored Programs
The mission of the Division of Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) is to provide leadership in the establishment of partnerships between the faculty, the institution and its constituents, the facilitation of technology transfer and commercialization, and the development and implementation of the operational processes and policies of the research enterprise at CAU including the delivery of pre- and post-award services. This mission is realized through the delivery of value-added, “one-stop” support and management throughout the research and sponsored programs process through the collaboration of research administration, CAU research enterprise and technology transfer and commercialization efforts.
At Clark Atlanta University, we believe that research and education cannot be decoupled. Research and scholarly activity at CAU is essential in providing a world-class educational experience for our students. The Division of Research and Sponsored Programs seeks to leverage the diverse skills and expertise of our students, faculty, researchers, and staff to foster the growth of the research enterprise, provide exceptional research and educational experiences for our students, and make significant discoveries and contributions to the knowledge of humankind.
Academic Analytics
The Atlanta University Center Consortium (AUCC) External Discovery Site elevates faculty members’ national profile at AUCC campuses by making their research and scholarly achievements more easily accessible. It is intended for external partners and stakeholders to explore scholars’ rich intellectual networks across AUCC campuses.
The AUCC Faculty Insight Platform connects faculty members across AUCC campuses with one another. It also enables them to find external resources that can advance their research and professional collaborations and upcoming extramural funding opportunities and professional awards for which they may be nominated.

Pivot-RP
Pivot-RP, a tool that answers the growing demands on research developers to quickly discover the right funding opportunities and effectively collaborate with their colleagues.
Pivot-RP’s main feature is connecting faculty and student researchers with available funding opportunities. These opportunities include the sponsor, funding category (keywords), amount, application requirements and deadlines, and where to find more information. It enables you to mark opportunities in order to track them. You can mark highly relevant opportunities, ones that you are actively dealing with, as active. Tracking an opportunity enables you to receive updates when the opportunity changes and to get personal reminders about the opportunity’s deadlines. For additional information about Pivot-RP features, please visit their web site – ExLibris Pivot-RP.
Creating a Pivot-RP account is easy. Please go to http://Pivot.proquest.com and click the “Sign up” option in the upper right of the screen. You will gain access to Pivot-RP by indicating that you are affiliated with CAU and signing up with your institutional email address.
When you first log in to Pivot-RP, you can either claim a profile as yours, if one already exists in Pivot-RP, or you can create a new profile. Having an updated profile is an essential component of the platform and will allow you to share opportunities, build collaborative relationships with colleagues and connect with funding discovery opportunities.
From the homepage, you can manage active or tracked funding opportunities, saved searches, shared opportunities, etc., and start searching for funding or scholars. Username and password access is necessary when a) a user is off-campus, or b) when a user needs to save a funding record or funding search.
Grants.Gov

Business Development
The U.S. Small Business Administration runs two programs that assist in new business development: Small Business Technology Transfer Research – STTR expands funding opportunities in the federal innovation research and development arena. Central to the program is expansion of the public/private sector partnership to include the joint venture opportunities for small business and the nation’s premier nonprofit research institutions. Small Business Innovation Research – SBIR programs encourage small businesses to explore their technological potential and provides the incentive to profit from its commercialization. By including qualified small businesses in the nation’s R&D arena, high-tech innovation is stimulated and the United States gains entrepreneurial spirit as it meets its specific research and development needs.
