Educational Leadership Tier I Admission Requirements
GPA Requirement: 3.0
Minimum Degree Requirement: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited program and an accredited college or university. To be used to satisfy degree requirements, evaluation of foreign educational transcripts must show degree earned that is the U.S. equivalency of degree required by the program.

Three Letters of Recommendation are required. One from a school administrator; identify recommenders on your application.
Certification/Teaching Experience: All applicants must possess a valid, level 4 or higher, Professional, Advanced Professional, or Lead Professional teaching certificate, leadership certificate, service field certificate, or Life certificate and/or must be employed as a certified teacher for a minimum of 2 years, or other certified school positions, regional educational service agency, or department of education
Georgia Ethics for Educational Leadership Assessment: Candidates enrolled in Tier I Educational Leadership programs must complete the Georgia Ethics for Educational Leadership Assessment (380) prior to enrollment.

Tier 2 P-12 Educational Leadership Programs are designed to prepare principals, superintendents, and other district level leaders who supervise principals. Tier 2 Educational Leadership Programs are performance-based and prepare educational leadership candidates who have a solid understanding of vision building and organizational change. At CAU, Tier 2 at the Specialist or Doctoral degree P-12 levels are offered as degree only programs for educators who already hold Education specialist or doctoral degrees that allow candidates to hold Level 6 or Level certification.
Tier 2 Ed.D.Minimum of 60 semester credit hours, plus 750 clock hours of Advanced Residency in a school setting and must be approved by school district supervisor.
The Specialist program is designed to provide advanced preparation in leadership at either or both the building level and the district level. Initial certification (NL-5) and current assignment to a district-approved leadership role are required a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours for completion and provides for the application and synthesis of basic concepts fundamental to instructional leadership. The program requires a two semester supervised field-based residency. Upon successful completion of this program, and passing the GACE, one is prepared to apply for the PL-6 level certification.
