Message from Chief of Police

Welcome to Clark Atlanta University's Department of Public Safety. It is an honor to lead the men and women of public safety for such a historical institution. It is our belief that knowledge is power and with that power comes awareness. The safety and security of the University is the combined responsibility of the entire Clark Atlanta University community. We all must believe partnering with our stakeholders is a priority. It is our mindset, that safety is everyone’s responsibility in managing and minimizing potential crime matters. If we are conscious and aware of our surroundings, informed of current trends, watchful and concerned for our students, faculty, staff, and visitors to the CAU campus, along with its surrounding areas, we all can play a role in ensuring Clark Atlanta University is a safe campus to learn, live, work and play. We, as a department, should exhibit professionalism, fairness, and treat others with respect and dignity while being responsive by providing excellent police services. We will serve by fostering a campus-wide posture of prevention; which facilitates the process of student-centered campus oriented policing by being inclusive, engaging our students in positive conversations and focusing on public safety.

In closing, we must continue to improve communication, collaboration and cooperation within the department, with our students, faculty, staff, and visitors and our partnering law enforcement agencies. As a caring and concerned chief, it is my desire that each of us maintain the philosophy: when any of us are hurt, Clark Atlanta University hurts, and when Clark Atlanta University hurts, we all hurt! We serve the Clark Atlanta University community with the assistance of our partners by making safety a priority and our students our purpose!
