Wclk Morning Jazz Host on Medical Leave

05/07/2020

Atlanta, GA (May 6, 2020) – Jazz 91.9 WCLK Morning Jazz Announcer, Morris Baxter, is on medical leave while undergoing health monitoring to address diabetes. “I want to thank listeners for your calls and emails to the station. Also, thank you for starting your morning each and every day with me on Morning Jazz,” says Morris Baxter, announcer, Jazz 91.9 WCLK.

“Your overwhelming support means everything to me,” adds Baxter. Baxter has been dealing with prediabetes for about two years now, managing the situation pretty well by making nutrition and exercise improvements. More recently, Baxter was diagnosed with diabetes.

Baxter emphasizes the importance of getting tested for diabetes in an effort to help prevent, in some instances reversing symptoms and optimizing the use of health care resources. Baxter’s goal is to change the way the world views diabetes especially in communities of people of color.

Baxter came to Jazz 91.9 WCLK as the Morning Jazz announcer in 2007. Since that time, Morris has developed a dedicated following of listeners who not only rely on him for dynamic Jazz music but also for his daily Morris Motivations.

Baxter is expected to make a full recovery and will be back on the air waves in the coming weeks. While Morris and his family are grateful for the outpouring of compassion, Baxter and his family are requesting privacy during this time. Baxter welcomes cards and notes to be sent to: Morris Baxter/Morning Jazz, 5284 Floyd Drive SW, Suite 2043, Mableton, GA 30126.
