President French Easter Message
The COVID-19 pandemic has led to major disruption in higher education to include Clark Atlanta University. I am deeply appreciative to the CAU community – trustees, administrators, faculty, staff, students, and alumni for the very positive ways you have responded to this crisis. Many groups have worked day and night to focus on the many issues which we were faced to structure our academic programs and maintain University operations that will ensure our students are successful.
I am especially thankful to members of the faculty who, over a short period of time, reoriented their approach to provide remote instruction to students for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester. I also value how staff has worked tirelessly to assist in ensuring the University continues to stay on course.
Crisis situations test institutions, and COVID-19 created a major storm for CAU. As your President, I could not be more proud of the CAU community for the way it has united to meet this challenge. I have observed a sense of “unity”, cooperation, strong work ethic, and even some humor as we have worked as a team to weather the storm which we are faced. I am honored to be president of this EXCEPTIONAL UNIVERSITY!
I want to take the occasion of this Easter Season to extend good wishes for a joyous celebration. I also want to remind us to be sensitive to students who are struggling, those who have lost loved ones, those who have become unemployed, parents who are struggling with child care issues, those who are struggling to pay bills, and those who will face medical emergencies in the face of this pandemic.
As we face the rising son together, let this Easter Season fill us with hope that we will endure this storm and be stronger when the storm subsides.
George T. French, Jr., Ph.D.
