Coronavirus Update: Prevention Measures

As I previously shared over the weekend, the Clark Atlanta University Coronavirus Response Task Force has been assembled to closely monitor the spread of the COVID-19 virus, also known as the coronavirus, as additional cases are confirmed in the United States and abroad.  As part of the task force’s efforts to remain diligent in disseminating all updates issued by the relevant local, state, national and global public health authorities about the virus, I write today to share that Governor Kemp and the Georgia Department of Public Health issued a joint press release earlier this week confirming the state’s first known cases of the coronavirus disease in Fulton County, Georgia.  You are encouraged to read the press release here to learn more about what the state is doing to prevent the spread of the disease in Georgia.

The task force’s duties include establishing and implementing campus guidelines and procedures based on guidance issued from local, state, national and global public health authorities.  In that vein, the task force has begun compiling a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) designed to inform you on how to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus based on guidance from relevant public health authorities. I expect that document will be shared in the coming days.  In the meantime, you are encouraged to visit the following websites to continue educating yourself about the virus and on how to prevent its transmission:

Let me reiterate that in uncertain times like these, Clark Atlanta University remains committed to ensuring your physical and mental safety and well-being.  The task force will continue to stay updated on all new developments related to the current situation and disseminate all relevant information as it comes available.
