Clark Atlanta University Students Selected to Attend SXSW 2019

ATLANTA, GA – March 8, 2019 Four CAU students have been selected to attend the 2019 South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference and Festival as a part of Opportunity Hub (OHUB)’s flagship program, HBCU@SXSW. The early exposure and recruitment initiative for African American and LatinX college students will take place March 8-17 in Austin, Texas.

  • Hannah Allen, a junior majoring in Computer Information Systems;
  • Gabrielle Barriffe, a freshman majoring in business administration and minoring in marketing;
  • Nailah Heard, a senior majoring in radio, TV, film and minoring in journalism; and
  • Rashada Cunningham, a junior majoring in marketing and supply chain and management

Over 200 students from historically black colleges and universities were selected to be a part of the 2019 OHUB cohort. The program aims to provide students with access to unknown spaces and firm recruitment opportunities through a fully immersive experience with the interactive technology on display at SXSW, leading tech companies, investors and influencers.

Founded in Austin, TX in 1987, the South by Southwest Conference and Festivals (SXSW) celebrates the convergence of the interactive media, film and music industries. SXSW Conference programming is organized into 25 tracks divided between Interactive, Film, Music, and Convergence, presented in a variety of formats including sessions, showcases, screenings, exhibitions and networking opportunities. SXSW 2019 will take place March 8-17, 2019.

Keynote speakers for the conference line-up include award-winning filmmaker PJ Raval and a Keynote conversation between Spotify chief content officer Dawn Ostroff, Gimlet co-founder Matt Lieber and Anchor co-founder Michael Mignano.
