Clark Atlanta University School of Education Counselor Education Faculty Member Elected to National Office

ATLANTA, GA – March 4, 2019 – Today Clark Atlanta University announced that Kim Lee Hughes, Ph. D., an Assistant Professor in the Counseling Department in the School of Education at Clark Atlanta University, has been elected President of the Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development, a division of the American Counseling Association.
Dr. Lee Hughes received her doctorate in Counseling & Student Personnel Services from The University of Georgia in 2015. She graduated from Spelman College in 1989. Her clinical, research, and advocacy interests include women of color in education, the empowerment of people of color, culturally affirmative interventions, LGBTQ youth in college settings, qualitative research, social justice, and multicultural training. She is the co-author of several book chapters and peer-reviewed articles on social justice, multiculturalism, counseling ethics, and working with queer people of color across the lifespan.
Dr. Lee Hughes is the 2017-2021 Vice President of African American Concerns for the Association of Multicultural Counseling and Development (AMCD), a division of the American Counseling Association (ACA). Dr. Lee Hughes was elected as the President Elect-Elect for AMCD in February 2019. Her term as President begins on July 1, 2019. Dr. Lee Hughes is originally from Washington, DC.
