1# Go For Extra Ordinary, Don't Settle for Ordinary: Acting on the Importance, Not Reacting to the Urgent

We all have the potential to make a difference... to be extraordinary! And yet in times like these — of high pressure and stress, it's easy to feel like just getting to the end of your day is a categorical success. In this highly interactive session, we'll talk about the many roles we find ourselves juggling (remote worker, teacher, office-mate, parents, children caring for parents — the list goes on), and how difficult it can be to determine where to spend our time. We'll explore how we can rise to our potential and feel like we're contributing in a meaningful way to the areas of our lives that matter most. Take a chill pill and join us for a virtual conversation that will provide you with a framework to discern where you should invest your time and energy, and how to say "no" to the less important priorities.

3# Schedule The Big Rocks, Don't Sort Gravel

In a time of never ending pings, dings and rings, it is easy to feel overwhelmed by the many distractions, even if you know what to focus on! SQUIRREL! The truth is, identifying what's important is only half the challenge. In this session, we'll discuss strategies for identifying the few Big Rocks (most important priorities: job interviews), and how to prevent the gravel (less important things: bedazzling) from distracting you. We'll talk specifically about your technology, and how important it is to align your relationship with technology to the priorities that matter most.

4# Prioritizing Self-Care While Advancing Your Career. Mindfulness Tools For Uncertain Times

Self-care is important during these challenging times! Before you reach for your DIY nature hair and beard game facials, remember that self-care also means taking care of yourself physically and emotionally. By making small adjustments to your daily routine, you can be more productive in advancing your career forward.

You also no longer have to spend hours scrolling through all of the relaxation apps in the app store for anxiety relief! A really accessible set of tools is available to help make you feel calmer and grounded when anxiety strikes. Even better, the same set of resources can energize you when the afternoon (evening? morning? what does time mean again?) slump hits. Best of all, there’s no online ordering or delayed shipping involved, because you already have everything you need!

COVID-19 may have cancelled your summer plans, but it doesn't have to delay your future success. Haven’t become that Tik-Tok or Instagram superstar you were hoping to be when quarantine began? Understanding how to expand your network, increasing your industry and functional knowledge, and continuing to position your goals for future success. Alumni leaders, let's discuss when is the right time to elevate the Next Steps and what can we do now to be prepared for our future.

7# Professionals: Positivity as a Driver of Connection and Resilience

As supermen and superwomen, we were already pushing our emotional processing limits before COVID-19, so how do we manage even greater uncertainty moving forward? And do we just want to manage, or actually use this time to build resilience and the confidence to lead ourselves and others with greater positive impact?

We often intend to approach our work with more optimism, yet we might not have the appreciation or tools to go about it. Building on Positive Psychology, our Alumni leaders will delve into the utility of cultivating positive emotions which can drive connection, creativity and vitality. We will gain an appreciation of our own strengths and those of others, allowing for greater perspective, well-being, and overall health.

This is a wakeup call for HBCU governing boards, hence, a new paradigm is required to ensure the selection of trustees who are committed to fulfilling their fiduciary responsibilities differently than is the case currently.

Vision 2020 Series - Overcoming Barriers to Gender Equity in the Workplace

People of Color in the workplace face many obstacles — from the “sticky floor” of low-paying jobs with little room for advancement, to the “broken rung” that slows their progress up the career ladder, to the “glass ceiling” that makes it harder for people of color to reach the top jobs.

Companies are investing in recruiting people with diverse backgrounds, but even as the numbers of people coming in the door are rising, barriers remain. We encourage panelists to discuss efforts of millennials and Generation Z to create change within the workplace and enable people of color to succeed.

Together, we will explore research on the factors that impede our leadership trajectories and look at how some companies are creating a roadmap to encourage advancement.
