Clark Atlanta University hosts two stations in the lower level of AUC Woodruff Library, WCLK-FM and CAU-TV. Through work study, internships and extracurricular programs with the Department of Mass Media Arts, students gain practical experience in journalism, multimedia production, and radio.
Launched in 1974 under the direction of former Clark College president Vivian Henderson and former mass communications director Charles Hobson, WCLK-FM became the first black federally licensed educational FM radio station in Georgia. Today, CAU’s National Public Radio (NPR) affiliate station Jazz 91.9 WCLK is the longest running jazz station in the country. Tune In
