Enhancing Graduate Studies (Activity 09)

Abstract

The Office of Graduate Studies/Research and Sponsored Programs provide scholarships for doctoral sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) students. The support provided allows the graduate programs in the STEM areas to expand significantly, thus expanding the number of African-American students entering the doctoral pipeline at the University. The Office of Graduate Studies/Research and Sponsored programs promotes and encourages research mentoring opportunities for graduate students by providing annual grants or other assistance to permit short-term research collaborations between students and faculty members.

Objectives

  • To increase student fellowship by 5% above our current level of 42 graduate students; and
  • To increase mentoring opportunities by 25% over current level of 1.
