Preamble

In accordance with the Clery Act of 1990, Clark Atlanta University (CAU) makes available, upon request, its Annual Security Report which provides campus security information concerning crime statistics, crime reporting procedures, building security, campus police, crime prevention information, policies regarding the illegal use of alcohol or drugs, alcohol and drug abuse education programs and sexual assault programs.

The Clery Act Compliance Committee (CACC) appointed by the Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration, is responsible for CAU's compliance with the Clery Act of 1990 and the United States Department of Education regulation 34 CFR Part 668. The General Counsel Office, in cooperation with the Department of Public Safety chairs the committee along with representatives from Student Affairs, Student Recruitment/Admissions and Human Resources.

The CACC meets regularly with the Department of Public Safety to coordinate the University's crime statistic record keeping. CAU policies require that any criminal activity be reported to CAU Public Safety. Therefore, the Department of Public Safety shall be responsible for gathering and sorting all reportable statistics for the annual Compliance Statement from all on-campus and all available off-campus resources and for the daily crime log, annual crime statistics and timely warnings.

The Office of Student Affairs works with Public Safety to identify all actions that have been referred for campus disciplinary actions in the areas of liquor law violations, drug law violations, illegal weapons possessions and all other reportable incidents as defined by the Clery Act of 1990.

The Office of Student Recruitment/Admissions is responsible for insuring that prospective students have access to the annual Compliance Statement and crime statistics. The Office of Human Resources is responsible for insuring that prospective employees have access to the annual Compliance Statement and crime statistics.

The Office of the General Counsel is responsible for preparation of the annual Compliance Statement of policies and procedures, publishing it with the Public Safety crime statistics and arranging for its direct delivery to all current students, faculty and staff.
