Clark Atlanta University (CAU) Experience August 17-23, 2011

The “Clark Atlanta University (CAU) Experience” focuses on the rich tradition, history, culture and academic excellence of Clark Atlanta University. The “CAU Experience” is required of all first-year students. It gives new students a successful transition into the college experience. The program is composed of student leaders and University officials who provide an introduction to academic, social, campus and community resources to promote relationships with the campus and community.

The CAU Experience

In anticipation of your arrival to campus, faculty, staff, and current students are planning an array of activities and experiences to facilitate your transition to CAU, such as the University’s academic expectations, practices and policies, traditions, customs, and other facets of student life. This is achieved primarily through The CAU Experience.

Induction Ceremony at the conclusion of the CAU Experience: (Ceremonial Attire required)

The Clark Atlanta University Induction Ceremony is steeped in tradition in efforts to induct our freshmen class as members of the CAU family. This ceremony provides you a historical perspective regarding the collaboration of our parent institutions Atlanta University (1865) and Clark College (1869) in preserving the best of the past and present in the creation of Clark Atlanta University on July 1, 1988. As an incoming freshman you will be charged by Clark Atlanta University administration to adhere to the five (5) core values established by the institution: Student Centeredness, Pursuit of Excellence, Innovation and Discovery, Integrity, Social Responsibility and Respect; as well as a charge from a fellow incoming freshman to strive for academic excellence, commit to areas of civic engagement and co-curricular activities. Through the CAU Experience Litany you will take an oath to uplift the principles and high academic standards of the institution. Upon the conclusion of the Induction Ceremony you will then be deemed a Clark Atlanta University Panther!!!!

All freshman students are mandated to participate in the Induction Ceremony and are required to wear the below dress attire:

Females - you are required to wear a white dress or suit (no pants). The dress length should be no higher than two inches above the knee (conduct the finger tip test). The dress may not be sleeveless or have spaghetti straps. Black pumps (no sandals) and skin-tone hosiery is required.

Males - you are required to wear a black, navy or dark gray business suit, white button down collared shirt with a complimenting classic colored tie, black or dark shoes and dark socks. No caps, hats, do-rags, or wave caps.
