ATLANTA, GA – November 21, 2018 – Clark Atlanta University (CAU) will celebrate the Heart of the Holidays with a special Christmas Tree Lighting at its historic Harkness Hall,
Students and families can enjoy live holiday music presented by the Clark Atlanta University choir, in addition to free holiday crafts for kids, plus Santa “Claws,” and “reindeer games.” The event is free and open to the public; however, attendees are encouraged to bring donated items
“The Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony is a great tradition for the Clark Atlanta University community,” said Omar Torres, Dean of Student Services and Campus Life. “It is a wonderful opportunity for members of the CAU family to come together, in fellowship, to celebrate and start the holiday season with thoughts of joy, hope, peace, and harmony.”
Clark Atlanta University will continue the tradition of spreading joy with Chris180, an organization designed to strengthen families and build communities, and Salvation Army Bellwood Boys and Girls Club, which provides the opportunity to donate gifts, groceries, clothing and other necessities to local families in need. Canned food donations will be also collected at the event to benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
“We expect the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Harkness Hall to continue our annual tradition at Clark Atlanta University – much like CAU Salutes, Alumni on the Lawn, and others,” said Ronald A. Johnson, Ph.D., president at Clark Atlanta University. “It is our effort to bring the community together and encourage the community to help those in need.”
CAU Heart of the Holidays at Harkness is brought to you by presenting sponsor, Georgia Power and hosted by Miss CAU and her Royal Court, the CAU Student Government Association, and the University’s Offices of Institutional Advancement (IA) and University Relations, External & Community Affairs (URECA).
