Posted on Monday, October 08, 2018

ATLANTA, GA -- October 8, 2018 – Clark Atlanta University has kicked off the 2018 Homecoming festivities this week, October 7-14, 2018. This year’s festivities, themed “On the Run: Accelerating 30 Years of Greatness”, commemorates the consolidation of Clark College, founded in 1869 and Atlanta University, founded in 1868. It conveys the pride in progress that alumni, students, faculty and friends feel about Clark Atlanta University.

This Homecoming is designed with fun and informative events for every Panthers fan, students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends.

The week began on Sunday, October 7th with Homecoming Chapel and a birthday celebration honoring minister, international activist and dean of the Civil Rights Movement, Reverend Joseph Echols Lowery, complete with a drive to increase voter registration.

On Tuesday, October 9, we will crown Miss Clark Atlanta University, Royale Greene, CAU ‘19. Ms. Greene hails from Cleveland, Ohio and will earn her Bachelors of Arts in Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations. Clark Atlanta University family, old and new, will gather for a regal evening in celebration of crowning Miss Clark Atlanta University.  This special event, themed “A Night at the Louvre,” attended by 500-1000 students, alumni, faculty, and staff, serves as the formal debut of all campus kings and queens, immediately followed by the official ball.  This magical night features social interaction, hors d’oeuvres, timeless fashion statements, and great music.  Although it targets primarily Clark Atlanta University students, alumni also frequent this annual event.  It features a fun, safe environment for students to “party with their peers” and enjoy a night to remember.

The Homecoming highlight will take place on Saturday, October 13 when the CAU Panthers football team takes on the Benedict College Tigers at Panther Stadium. As alumni and friends close out the weekend, the Gospel Explosion will be held on Sunday, Oct. 14 featuring recording artist, Pastor Charles Jenkins, and the university gospel choir.
