ATLANTA (May 22, 2017)    Clark Atlanta University (CAU) awarded more than 700 undergraduate and graduate students with bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees and specialist certifications on Monday, May 22.

Despite early threats of severe weather, thousands of family, friends and alumni enjoyed the traditional outdoor ceremony. Graduates cheered with excitement and pride as commencement speaker, successful entrepreneur William Pickard, Ph.D, encouraged them to pen their vision and create plans for their lives.

“You will never be what you cannot see” said Pickard, CEO of VITEC and Global Automotive Alliance. “When you have a vision, I believe anybody from anywhere can accomplish anything,” he said, as he challenged the graduates.

CAU Pres. Ronald A. Johnson challenged the graduating class to “take every opportunity that has been given to you.” He encouraged the crowd to develop lasting relationships beyond their college experience. “The more you give, the more others will give to you,” he said. This is Johnson’s second commencement ceremony as the fourth president of CAU.
