ATLANTA (December 12, 2016) The hugely successful student-produced sports news show “The Sideline” has already taken the entire Atlanta University Center (AUC) by storm. Now “The Sideline” is preparing to conquer the airwaves of CAU-TV, Clark Atlanta University’s owned-and-operated broadcast television station, with the launch of its inaugural show, Monday, Dec. 12, at 12:30 p.m. “The Sideline” will air on CAU-TV Comcast channel 23 every Mon., Wed. and Fri., at 12:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.
“The Sideline” is the brainchild of CAU senior mass media arts major Justin Parham, who used his own money and equipment to start the show on YouTube. Within weeks its popularity quickly skyrocketed among AUC coaches, athletes and fans.
“My goal in creating ‘The Sideline’ was to fill a void in the AUC,” said Parham. “The show highlights the accomplishments of AUC student-athletes, not only on the playing field, but also in the classroom. It also gives CAU mass media arts students practical experience as reporters, anchors and camera operators,” Parham explained.
“The Sideline” will hold a casting call for on-air talent Jan. 23, 2017, at 12 p.m. Parham is also recruiting for camera operators, makeup artists, hair stylists and production assistants.
