ATLANTA (July 9, 2015) – The Atlanta Business Chronicle named Roy George, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Computer and Information Science at Clark Atlanta University (CAU), in its top 100 technology leaders in Atlanta for 2015.

Throughout his career, George has been recognized for his visionary leadership and student engagement in the academic technology realm.  His work made the news in January 2015 when U.S. Vice President Joe Biden announced that CAU would share in funding for a $25 million cybersecurity education consortium, comprising 12 other HBCUs, two national labs and a K-12 school district.  George serves as CAU’s principal investigator for that grant.

George’s interests include database systems, cybersecurity, data analytics and knowledge based systems.  He has published extensively in the computer science and application areas and wrote a book on data modeling. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Kerala, India, and a master’s and a doctoral degree in computer science from Tulane University.

The technology list was published in the Chronicle’s June 13th edition.  The list featured entrepreneurs, venture capital and private equity investors, CEOs of leading tech companies, technology officers at top public companies, leaders of professional industry associations, technology educators, government leaders, service providers and advisors.
