The purpose of Research and Innovation Week is to showcase the importance of research and how it is used in all facets of life. It is also a time to celebrate the diverse ideas and collaborations happening right here at CAU.
On Monday, March 27: The GIS Symposium (Geographic Information Systems) will feature research performed by the students in the GIS Courses and the work of faculty & professionals in the field. The symposium will also explore the prevalence of geospatial education at HBCUs, discuss networking opportunities and advancements in the field, and explore the importance of a GIS Education for both research and career opportunities.
On Tuesday, March 28: Graduate students from all academic disciplines at CAU can participate in a symposium in which they can present their work either via an oral presentation or via poster presentation.
On Wednesday, March 29: The Center for Undergraduate Research and Creativity (CURC) is holding its 2nd Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium. The symposium will feature research and creative works from all academic disciplines. Under the direction of a faculty mentor, student researchers will present either a poster or an oral presentation on their desired topic. Monetary prizes for each category.
Our submissions include researchers from Clark Atlanta University, Spelman and Morehouse. We have invited the AUC and Atlanta Community to attend and applaud our students from all disciplines.
On Thursday, March 30: The Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurial Development (CIED) will host a hackathon and a pitch competition. Selected students will be pitching their research and business ideas to investors for potential start-up funds. Students involved with the research symposium will be given the opportunity to work with the InnoLab to revise their idea into a potential businesses.
On Friday, March 31: Clark Atlanta University's art collection is one of the largest and most historically significant collections of African American fine art in the United States. The capstone to Research and Innovation Week, this session will introduce the collection, provide an opportunity to discuss how to use art to generate ideas, and discover why studying art is imperative in developing research objectives.
