Academic Advising Academic Advisement is the first step in the successful matriculation of students at Clark Atlanta University. During New Student Orientation, students meet with their Academic Advisors for their intended major departments. This is the beginning of partnerships between students and major departments that continue until graduation. During this period, students are advised of core and major requirements, academic policies and procedures, and other general academic information. Students' academic advisors will:
The minimum course load for full-time undergraduate students at CAU is 12 hours. The maximum course load is 18 hours. The average course load for first-year students ranges from 15 to 17 semester hours. Class schedules for the first semester will include: (1) First Year Seminar, (2) Composition I, and (3) a math course that is based on placement test scores, departmental requirements and the recommendation of academic advisors. Transfer students are required
to meet with Academic Advisors from major departments and develop
course schedules for registration based on major requirements.
Transfer students will also receive information on course equivalencies. |
