R. William (Bill) Ide, III

R. William Ide III is a partner with the national law firm of McKenna Long & Aldridge, LLP. A former secretary and general counsel for the Monsanto Company, he specializes in representing boards of directors, audit committees, and management with special investigations, ethics, corporate governance, crisis management, and strategic advice. Today, he focuses his practice on representing public companies, their boards and board committees concerning ethics, corporate governance, special investigations, strategic interfacing with publics, and crisis management.
He is a member of the Boards of Directors of AFC Enterprises, Inc., where he chairs the Governance Committee and Audit Committee; Albemarle Corporation Compensation, Nominating and Governance Committees; East West Institute; and Finance and Audit Committee, and former Chair, Governance and Compensation Committee, Clark Atlanta University Board of Trustees. Additionally, Mr. Ide is a member of the Georgia State University Board of Visitors, Law School. He has served as counsel to the United States Olympic Committee and is a past president of the American Bar Association.
He holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia; an MBA in Finance from Georgia State University, and a Bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University
