Juanita P. Baranco, J.D.

Juanita Baranco is Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Baranco Automotive Group consisting of Mercedes-Benz and Smart Center Buckhead, a company founded In June 2003 by Mrs. Baranco and her husband, Gregory Baranco, and former U.N. Ambassador Andrew Young. Baranco and her husband founded the first Baranco car dealership in the Atlanta metropolitan area in 1978. She has been featured on several occasions in Georgia Trend Magazine’s annual list of the “100 Most Influential Georgians” and in other publications including Essence Magazine as one of Atlanta’s women on the move, and as a finalist for the 2003 Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award.
Mrs. Baranco enjoyed a successful career in law, including serving as assistant attorney general for the state of Georgia. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Southern Company and the Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia; previously served on the Boards of Directors of Cox Radio and First Union Bank; and served as regent and chair of the Georgia Board of Regents. She served as chairwoman of the Clark Atlanta University Board of Trustees from 2003 to 2013.
Mrs. Baranco earned a Bachelor of Science degree and Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University and, in May 2014, was awarded the Doctor of Human Letters degree honoris causa from Clark Atlanta University. She is a member of the American Bar Association and State Bar Associations of Georgia and Louisiana.
