Tribute to Mrs. Evelyn Epps

As a native of New Orleans, Mrs. Evelyn Epps married Leonidas Epps II in 1943. The couple moved to Atlanta in 1949 so that Coach Epps could begin his legacy as one of the most influential coaches in the history of what was then Clark College. As a dedicated wife and supporter of CAU athletics, she became an inspirational figure in the lives of her husband and his teams. Mrs. Epps would always show her love by listening to players' thoughts and feelings, whether they were personal, academic or sports related.

Mrs. Epps was inducted into the Clark Atlanta University Sports Hall of Fame in October 2003. She attended the Epps Scholarship Program on March 19, 2004, and died shortly thereafter, in April. We will truly miss her commitment and dedication to Clark Atlanta University's Athletics.

" The Rose Beyond the Wall"

A rose once grew where all could see, sheltered beside a garden wall,
And, as the days passed swiftly by, it spread its branches, straight and tall...

One day, a beam of light shone through a crevice that had opened wide -
The rose bent gently toward its warmth then passed beyond to the other side...

Now you, who deeply feel its loss, be comforted - the rose blooms there -
Its beauty even greater now, nurtured by God's own loving care.
