CAU Freshmen Forward Program

Congratulations on being accepted to Clark Atlanta University.  We are excited that you have selected CAU as your desired institution of higher education.  As a freshman in the upcoming 2015-2016 class, you are eligible to participate in the CAU Freshmen Forward Program.  This program is designed for incoming freshmen and will help you to get a fast start on earning your degree. As a participant in this program, you will be allowed to take two (2) college courses during the summer.  The best thing about this program is that all of the courses are full credit courses that are taught online by current CAU professors.  That means you can earn up to 6 credit hours towards your degree before you step a foot on the CAU campus!


  • You can earn up to 6 hours towards completion of your CAU degree.
  • Save up to $1, 476 in tuition by taking summer school classes, which are 30% cheaper than fall and spring classes.
  • All classes are taught online by CAU professors.



  1. You must be admitted into the 2015-2016 Clark Atlanta University freshmen class.  
  2. The Confirmation Fee of $475 must be paid by May 31, 2015.
  3. All high school courses must be completed and a final transcript must be received by the Office of Admissions by May 31, 2015.

Course Format

All of the courses in the 2015 CAU Freshmen Forward Program are online courses. The courses are taught by current CAU professors and are taught via our CANVAS software.

The following eligible courses are part of the core curriculum at CAU and are required for graduation. As an incoming freshman, you will be able to get ahead start by completing up to 6 hours towards your degree during the summer.

Tuition & Fees

  1. The tuition for summer school is $574/credit hour.  Therefore, the tuition for one 3 credit hour courses is $1,722 and the tuition for two 3 credit hours courses is $3,444.
  2. All eligible students are required to pay the Summer School fee of $200.


Financial Aid

All eligible applicants are required to submit an electronic Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for academic year 2014-2015 (www.fafsa.gov). The Clark Atlanta University FAFSA School Code is 00155900.

Computer Requirements

Canvas and its hosting infrastructure are designed for maximum compatibility and minimal requirements. To participate, students are required to have access to a computer that meets the following standards:

  1. Operating Systems - Windows XP SP3 and newer or Mac OSX 10.6 and newer.
  2. Computer Speed and Processor - Use a computer 5 years old or newer when possible with at least 1GB of RAM and 2GHz processor.
  3. Internet Speed - Along with compatibility and web standards, Canvas has been carefully crafted to accommodate low bandwidth environments with a minimum of 512kbps.
