Institute of Sports and Entertainment Management

The need for skilled management of athletes and entertainers is extensively documented. As a result, lucrative career options exists in a market with millions of prospective jobs and billions of investment dollars. In both sports and entertainment today, athletes and performers play major roles on the field or on stage, yet enterprises and organizations that employ them are vastly under-represented by minority ownership, top management and technical assistance. Part of this discrepancy is due to the lack of information, resources, and opportunities available in the community.

Traditional business programs have not responded to the need for preparing effective managers and executives to guide and lead these historically unstructured business sectors. Throughout the country, academic institutions have not kept pace with the ever-changing marketplace. Sports and entertainment continues to be regarded as an extra-curricular activity, not the billion-dollar industry it is today.

The mission of the Institute of Sports and Entertainment Management is to provide quality management education for business professionals who will be the leaders in sports and entertainment management. The Institute serves to foster Clark Atlanta's commitment to prepare African Americans and an increasingly diversified student body for accelerated business careers in industries where minority representation in management is low.
