Economic Development Center

As a concerned member of the Atlanta community, Clark Atlanta University responds to community needs by sharing educational resources in a variety of ways. One example is the Economic Development Center, which provides training and technical assistance to neighborhoods, organizations/institutions as well as small businesses in metropolitan Atlanta.

Supported by federal funds from the Economic Development Administration, the Center conducts a number of community training programs, such as an eleven-week Entrepreneur's Training Series entitled FastTrac, utilizing Clark Atlanta University's faculty and local business mentors; the BusinessNow Training Program, which focuses on micro-enterprises and the development of women owned businesses; and Community Economic Revitalization, which works with the public and private sectors to rebuild inner city neighborhoods. The Center also offers substantial technical assistance to communities and organizations such as the Atlanta Empowerment Zone. The most recent advancement of the Center is the establishment of a micro-loan fund to facilitate start-up businesses in the initial stages of growth.

To inquire about the current and future programs, contact the Center at (404) 880-6089.
