Lady Panthers Eliminated from SIAC Tournament

Frankfort, KY-
A good run comes to an end as the Lady Panthers of Clark Atlanta University are eliminated from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women’s volleyball tournament with two tough losses to Claflin University 3-2 including a 15-10 deciding fifth set and Albany State in four sets. CAU finishes the season fifth in the conference with a 14-10 record overall and 11-5 in conference play.

#1E Claflin 3 def. #3E Clark Atlanta 2 (21-25, 18-25, 25-19, 25-15, 15-10) In a battle of divisional foes, Claflin came back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Clark Atlanta. CU was led by Faith Simmons who finished with 18 kills. Jessica Myles chipped in on the defensive end with eight solo blocks. CAU got a solid performance from All-SIAC selection Krysta McGowan who finished with 17 kills and freshman Tyneisha Spears who ended up with 11 kills.
#4E Albany State 3 def. #3E Clark Atlanta 1 (19-25, 25-12, 25-14, 25-23) The Lady Rams continued their quest for a tenth consecutive championship as ASU dropped Clark Atlanta in four sets. Albany State was led by Sabrina Garcia with 16 kills while Tiffany Butler ended up with 12 kills. The Lady Panthers was once again led by senior Krysta McGowan who finished with 11 kills. Clark Atlanta was eliminated.

CAU Rolls in Day One of the SIAC Tournament

Frankfort, KY- The third-seeded Lady Panthers of Clark Atlanta University goes 2-0 in the first round of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women’s volleyball tournament with straight set victories over Tuskegee University and Stillman College.

#3E Clark Atlanta 3 def. #4W Tuskegee 0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-18) In match two, the Lady Panthers of Clark Atlanta swept Tuskegee, 3-0. CAU was led by All-SIAC selection Krysta McGowan, who finished a match-high 10 kills. Teammate Kailyn Blackmon finished with a game-high 30 assists and six digs. Arielle Walton led the way for Tuskegee with a team-high eight kills.

#3E Clark Atlanta 3 def. #2W Stillman 0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-22) Clark Atlanta continued their winning ways in their second match of the day, defeating Stillman in straight sets. The Lady Panthers were led by Krysta McGowan with 13 kills and Kailyn Blackmon, who finished with a game-high 27 assists. Stillman’s Jamila McKinnis posted a double-double with 10 kills and 10 assists. Teammate Kiaundra Spann finished with a game-high 13 digs.
