GWL Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q. Is there a fee to see a writing consultant?
A. No, writing consultation is a free service to CAU graduate and professional students.
Q. Do I need to schedule an appointment to see a consultant?
A. Yes, an appointment is necessary before meeting with a consultant.
Q. Can I meet with a consultant before I begin writing my project?
A. Yes, however we recommend that you write your paper before meeting with a consultant so that the consultant can just help improve your writing as opposed to helping write the paper.
Q. Can I schedule an appointment on the same day that I will like to see a consultant?
A. No, an appointment has to be scheduled at least 2 days prior to meeting with a consultant.
Q. Is there a limit to the number of times that I can see a consultant?
A. Yes, Graduate and Professional students may reserve only one appointment per week.
Q. Can I cancel or reschedule an appointment?
A. Yes, A 24 hours notice is required for cancellation and rescheduling of an appointment. If you fail to give a 24 hour notice, you will have to wait two weeks before you can reschedule another appointment.
Q. Do undergraduate students have access to a graduate writing consultant?
A. No, the undergraduate writing center is located at the ground floor of the Kresge Hall.
Q. How do I make an appointment at Graduate Writing Lab?
A. Please make an appointment using our online consultation appointment form. You are limited to one appointment per week.
Q. How can I work at the Graduate Writing Lab as a writing consultant?
A. Send resume and cover letter to GWC@CAU.EDU, and contact Lolita Gray(404-880-8426) for more information.
Q. Who runs the Graduate Writing Lab?
A. Ms. Lolita Gray, the Graduate Writing Coordinator, is responsible for the daily operation of the GWL. She reports directly to Dr. Bettye Clark, Dean of Graduate Studies.
