Charles Chesnutt Black History Month Stamp Has CAU Tie

Unveiled last year for Black History Month by the U.S. Postal Service, the Charles Waddell Chesnutt Black Heritage Stamp commemorates Chesnutt’s work as an author. Born on June 20, 1858, in Cleveland, Ohio, Chesnutt became a lawyer, businessman and author, noted for his collections of short stories. In 1998, the Charles Waddell Chesnutt Association was charted by the Department of English at CAU to sponsor panels and programs that enhance the critical study of Chesnutt’s work.
