Clark Atlanta University (CAU) Students Host Annual 'Tis The Season Christmas Celebration Dec. 4-8

ATLANTA (Nov. 27,2013) – Catch the Christmas spirit at Clark Atlanta University, where studentsagain will host an annual four-day celebration Dec. 4-8.  Sponsored by the Student GovernmentAssociation and the Campus Activities Board, ‘Tis the Season will take place onthe main campus, 223 James P.Brawley Drive, S.W.

On Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 6 p.m., Miss CAU, Ebony McCovery, willkick off the celebration with the Christmas tree lighting on the promenade infront of the Bishop Cornelius L. Henderson Student Center.  A Jingle Bell Rock Social will begin immediatelyafter the tree lighting in the lobby of the Student Center to celebrate theholiday and mark the semester’s end.  On Thursday,Dec. 5, a gift-wrapping party will take place from noon to 5 p.m., to provide presentsto more than 300 neighborhood children.  ThenFriday, Dec. 6, the children will convene in the Multipurpose Room of theStudent Center for Christmas at CAU, a party with music, games, gifts and elves.Chapel service will be held Sunday, Dec. 8, at 10:45 a.m. in Davage Auditoriumin Haven-Warren Hall, with a special holiday message, “Sharing Our Gifts.”

Marquez Davis, a senior business administration major and chairof the event, said, “This is one of the most favorite times at CAU, to usher inthe holiday spirit and share with the surrounding community.  As a part of one of the university’s mottos,“Culture for Service,” CAU students, faculty and staff have the opportunity toengage in community service, with our goal to collect 1,500 toys.  To give to others and to those in need is thetrue meaning of Christmas.”
