ATLANTA (10/23/13) – Clark Atlanta University Chief of Police Thomas Y. Trawick Jr. (second from left) poses with Clark Atlanta University's 2013 The Call to True Beauty Advocates of the Year Oct. 18 in Clark Atlanta's Art Galleries. Representing Atlanta Police Department's (APD) Domestic Violence Squad are (left to right): Alice Johnson, APD Community Liaison for the Office of the Chief of Police; Chief Trawick; Lt. Janet Brady, commander of the APD Special Victims Unit; Investigators Shaun Houston and Tia Fantauzzi; and Atlanta's District Three City Councilman Ivory Lee Young Jr. The City's Domestic Violence Unit was honored not only for its excellent police work and sensitivity to the issue, but also for its advocacy and focus on prevention. Reported domestic violence incidents were down 20 percent over the previous year at the time of the luncheon. Councilman Lee was on hand to proclaim Clark Atlanta a City Resource Zone for its ongoing crusade to end dating and domestic violence in the community. The university also recognizes a dating and/or domestic violence survivor at each annual awards luncheon.
