WHO: CAU President Carlton E. Brown
WHAT: Will deliver the keynote address during the university’s Opening Convocation.
WHEN: Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 10:30 a.m.
WHERE: The Leonidas S. Epps Gymnasium in the Vivian Wilson Henderson Center, located at the corner of Atlanta Student Movement Boulevard (formerly Fair Street) and Vine Street
BACKGROUND: This year CAU celebrates its 25th anniversary, since the 1988 consolidation of Clark College (founded in 1865) and Atlanta University (founded in 1869). Among other topics, the president’s remarks are likely to include the challenges faced by today’s historically black college or university, in light of a still struggling economy, the inability of families to pay for higher education, and the increase in loan denials.
