Clark Atlanta University Hosts Annual 'Tis The Season Christmas Celebration

ATLANTA (Nov. 26, 2012) At Clark Atlanta University, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and students are again Santa’s helpers in hosting an annual four-day celebration Nov. 29-Dec. 2, promoting the Christmas spirit on campus and in the surrounding community. Sponsored by the Student Government Association and the Campus Activities Board, ‘Tis the Season will take place on the main campus, 223 James P. Brawley Drive,S.W.

On Thursday, Nov. 29, at 6 p.m., Miss CAU Tiffany Mason, will kick off the celebration with the Christmas tree lighting on the promenade in front of the Bishop Cornelius L. Henderson Student Center. A JingleBell Rock Social will begin at 7 p.m. in the lobby of the Student Center to celebrate the holiday and mark the semester’s end. On Friday, Nov. 30, at10 a.m., more than 300 neighborhood children from the Atlanta Preparatory Academy will convene in the Multipurpose Room of the Student Center for Christmas at CAU, a party with music, games and gifts.

On Saturday, Dec. 1, Community Service Day, CAU students will participate in various community service projects. Chapel service will be held Sunday, Dec. 2, at 10:45 a.m. in Davage Auditorium in Haven-WarrenHall, with a special holiday message.

Marquez Davis, chair of the event, said “Our ‘Tis the Season celebration will allow students to participate in several interactive, exciting and spirit-filled activities. We are collecting hundreds of toys for the visiting children. Also, this celebration is the perfect opportunity for us to commit to community service, which is a part of our Campus Cultural Creed and represents the true meaning of Christmas.”
