Clark Atlanta University Began Its 20th Anniversary Celebration With Opening Convocation on Sept. 23
- Description: Clark Atlanta University celebrated 20 years since the consolidation of Atlanta University and Clark College, with an opening convocation on September 23, at 10 a.m. in the Epps Gymnasium on campus.
“This is a remarkable time for the university,” says CAU President Carlton E. Brown. “Clark Atlanta is financially sound. We are welcoming one of the largest classes in our school’s history, and for the first time, each will receive a laptop through our Pilot Laptop Loan Program to enhance their academic performance.” Dr. Brown, CAU’s third president, took the helm on August 1. He served as the keynote speaker at convocation. Afterward, students, faculty and staff participated in a Legacy Walk from the gym to the New Residential Apartments that were renamed Dr. James P. Brawley Hall, after the 19th president of former Clark College.
