Sigma Tau Delta presents Sizwe Bansi is Dead, a Pultizer prize winning play to be performed performed in the round, in the CAU Art Galleries in Trevor-Arnett Hall. Performance dates are:
Thursday, April 11 (7:30 p.m.); Friday, April 12 (7:30 p.m.); and Saturday, April 13 (2:30 p.m. And 7:30 p.m.). Tickets are $5 each and may be purchased from Professor Kenneth Capers (firstname.lastname@example.org ; Haven Warren Hall, Office 100-C.) or Professor Joan McCarty. Tickets also may be purchased from the following Sigma Tau Delta members: Kendall Barksdale, Dominic Gabriel, Khadeidra Billingsley, and Kelsey Jones. The play is set in South Africa, in the 1970’s during Apartheid. In the actual production and in the program, we use imagery of protest and oppression from South Africa and paralleling images of very similar protests in America during the Civil Rights Movement. The play centers on three men’s struggle to find their place in a hostile setting of oppression. In the end, sometimes one has to die to be reborn.
