R. William Ide
R. William Ide is a partner in the law firm of McKenna Long & Aldrige, LLP in Atlanta and is recognized for vision, strategy and leadership in addressing external challenges with auditors, government regulators and “publics” throughout the globe.
Ide specializes in representing boards of directors, audit committees and management with special investigations, ethics, corporate governance, crisis management and strategic advice. Today, he focuses his practice on representing public companies, their boards and board committees concerning ethics, corporate governance, special investigations, strategic interfacing with publics, and crisis management.
Presently, he serves as a member of the Board of Directors of AFC Enterprises, Inc., where he chairs the Governance Committee and serves on the Audit Committee. Ide also serves on the Board of Directors of Albemarle Corporation, where he serves on the Compensation Committee and the Nominating and Governance Committee. He serves on the Audit and Governance Committees of the Clark Atlanta University Board of Trustees and also serves on the Audit Committee of the EastWest Institute.
Ide was former General Counsel of $30 billion life sciences company, former Counsel to the United States Olympic Committee, and Past President of the American Bar Association.
Ide earned a J.D. from the University of Virginia, an MBA in Finance from Georgia State University and a bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University.
