Overview:

In the early 1990s, Clark Atlanta University established the Office of Undergraduate Studies within the Division of Academic Affairs, assigning to the unit primary responsibility for (1) leadership and oversight of campus-wide undergraduate academic planning and policy, and (2) provision of campus-wide services to support undergraduate academic success and retention. In general, the Office of Undergraduate Studies provides services to enhance the quality of the students' undergraduate experience, and ensures that standards, policies, and procedures for undergraduate programs are consistent across all disciplines and programs.

Mission Statement:

The Mission of the Office of Undergraduate Studies is to facilitate the academic success, retention, and holistic development of undergraduate students, from recruitment to graduation.

Mission Implementation:

This mission is accomplished through seven (7) principal units/ responsibilities: First-Year Seminar; University Honors Program; Undergraduate Student Testing; Undergraduate Technology and Academic Support Program (UTASP); Core Curriculum/General Education Coordination and Assessment; Interpretation and Enforcement of Undergraduate Academic Requirements, Regulations and Procedures; and Community Outreach through TRIO Programs (Upward Bound and Educational Talent Search).

Vision Statement:

The Office of Undergraduate Studies will be a leading model of comprehensive and coordinated support of the undergraduate academic experience, encompassing best practices in educational programs and services to improve and enhance the academic success, retention and graduation of high quality Clark Atlanta University students. We will also prepare students to become ethical and responsible citizens in a global society, with the highest standards of civility and professionalism.
