The Department of Foreign Languages encourages all its majors to study abroad, preferably during the junior year. We would ideally like for each student to have completed the advanced grammar course(s) in his/her major prior to departure.
Study Abroad opportunities for our students are numerous. A student may participate in a program for a semester, a year or during the summer. As Clark Atlanta University (CAU) is a member of several consortia--CIEE, CISS and the University Center of Georgia--students have the opportunity to apply to these programs without incurring additional costs. CAU is also a cosponsor of the Martinique Summer-Study Program for students of French and a participant in the Oaxaca Summer Program in Mexico, sponsored by Morehouse and Spelman Colleges, for students of Spanish.
In the past, students have studied on several continents--Africa, Asia, Europe and South America. Many secured scholarships from outside sources; others utilized the existing financial aid supplemented by personal funds. All students interested in undertaking studies in a foreign country should direct their inquiry to Dr. Paul M. Brown, Director of International Education, firstname.lastname@example.org
