Master of Arts
The department offers the Master of Arts degree in French and Spanish with a concentration in language and literature. At the Master’s level, degree applicants pursue the goals of speaking, reading, writing, and listening, with emphasis on the traditional model of languages, literature, culture, and methodology. All students acquire superior reading and translation skills adequate for easy comprehension of scholarly articles in French and Spanish and have thorough familiarity with major periods, authors, and techniques of literary criticism.
Ph.D. Concentration in Romance Languages
The Ph.D. degree in Humanities, with a concentration in Romance Languages, is a content-based interdisciplinary terminal degree intended to prepare scholars and teachers for research related to humanistic course content, course development, and college teaching.
Recipients of the Ph.D. degree in Humanities with a concentration in Romance Languages are also prepared for various careers in teaching, Foreign Service, international corporations, consulting, communication, publishing, law enforcement, legal and medical fields, interpreting and translating, just to mention a few examples.
Admission Requirements
Applicants to the Ph.D. Degree in Humanities Concentration in Romance Languages must meet both the departmental and the General Admission Requirements for Doctoral Degree programs, as published in the Clark Atlanta University Graduate Catalog.
