Art Degree Requirements
In addition to the University General Education requirements, students pursuing the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Art must take 11 departmental core courses and 8 art electives listed below.

Art majors must also take eight (8) art electives, chosen with faculty advisement for a total of 19 required courses in the major.
Art Sample Plans of Study
The following outlines illustrate ways in which courses may be arranged for degrees in the advertising design and general studio art concentrations. Students intending to enter industry to pursue careers in visual communications including: advertising art direction, web design, graphic design, and illustration components would choose the advertising design concentration. Students interested in preparing for advanced study in painting, sculpture, printmaking, and photography, as well as teaching K-12 should pursue the general studio concentration option.
Advertising Design Concentration (123 semester hours minimum)
The advertising design concentration student completes the program of study by taking existing classes from the Art department, Mass Media Arts, and the School of Business. Students are required to complete the departmental core courses and select 8 courses from the list of approved advertising design course options.
